Event Details

Have you ever wondered what constitutes a copyright?  Do you know the six rights embodied within a copyright?  If these and other questions about copyright and publishing are still unanswered, let us help.

On Saturday, January 14, from 1-4 pm, the Memphis Music Foundation will host "Your Work, Your Money: Copyright and Publishing in 2012."  This workshop will answer the questions mentioned above as well as walking you through how to register a musical composition, lyrics, or sound recordings with the US Copyright office through their website, copyright.gov.  We'll also talk about how registering a copyright is different than registering a published song with ASCAP, BMI and SESAC, and answer general questions about copyright and publishing and how they relate.  Presenters will include Angela Green, local entertainment attorney and head of PFM Publishing, as well as Elizabeth Montgomery, financial controller and head of licensing for Ardent Records/Studios.

RSVP today to reserve your spot and get 2012 started on the right foot by knowing your (copy)rights!
